Learning Objectives
- Describe the position, peritoneal relations, blood supply, nerve supply, lymphatic drainage, and clinical aspects of pelvic viscera — urinary bladder, uterus, ovary, rectum, and prostate (AN48.1)
- Identify and describe the muscles of the pelvic diaphragm (AN48.2)
- Describe the origin, course, relations, and branches of the internal iliac artery (AN48.3)
- Describe the branches of the sacral plexus (AN48.4)
- Explain the anatomical basis of suprapubic cystostomy, BPH, retroverted uterus, uterine prolapse, haemorrhoids, anal fistula, vasectomy, tubal pregnancy, and tubal ligation (AN48.5)
- Describe the neurological basis of automatic bladder (AN48.6)
- Identify the lobes involved in benign prostatic hypertrophy and prostatic cancer (AN48.7)
- Identify structures palpable during vaginal and rectal examination (AN48.8)
INSTRUCTIONS
